About Me

I would like to do a brief introduction to who I am and what my family is about. When I read blogs, I really get into the author and what they write. I feel like I know them and would like you to be the same when you read my blog!

My name is Heather, but my pen name is H.B. Redbird. I have not been writing professionally long, but I have had my own opinions for a long time. If you ask my friends and family, I have no issues in voicing those opinions. I am married to a wonderful man who is also a computer geek. We have had four children, three girls and one boy. My husband also had a son prior to our relationship, and we go visit him as time allows.

I was raised by a wonderful mother who believed that everyone should learn basic domestic skills, whether they wanted to or not. I fought her greatly back then, which makes me laugh all the time now. I love to sew, craft, paint, build, garden, etc. I am a stay at home mother who does it all. While we live in the big city, we yearn to be in an area where we can have a few hens, a large yard with a garden and a few fruit trees, and a decent basement for canning. We are into self-sufficiency, and we try to make products rather than buying them. We cloth diaper for economic and ecological reasons. My children love to reuse, repurpose, and recycle. So, if you want to call me a hippie, feel free. I will continue calling myself a natural parent.

Our other love, as I stated earlier, is technology, and we are not afraid to call ourselves geeks. My husband loves coding and fixing electronics. I prefer to do the research, play with new "toys," and learn new skills. I do very little coding, and mainly stick with HTML and Javascript. I am creeping into the world of PHP and CSS. If I don't know the answer to something, we will research until we figure it out.

Our family stays busy with 4-H, church, friends, and family events. There is never a dull moment and while things can get very frustrating ... smiles and hugs at the end of the day make it all worthwhile.
